Support for Ukraine: Canada Ukraine Foundation Awards
On Monday (10/24) we learned that the Canada Ukraine Foundation awarded nearly $CAD 550,000 ($405,000 USD) to the Youth Movement “Be Free”, which is one of our CHC fundraising beneficiaries.
The grant will fund 2,000 heating and cooking stoves to be delivered to some of the poorest communities in Ukraine by December. This really means survival for a lot of these families, as the region is heading for a very tough winter season.
Thank you to all in the extended Church of the Holy City community for keeping Ukraine in your thoughts and prayers.
A Little About the Organization
Ukraine’s “Be Free” Youth Movement (YMBF), a non-profit organization registered in Ukraine in October 2018, was formed with the mission of protecting the rights and interests of children and youth against poverty and hunger, as well as providing holistic education, nutrition, wellness training and support to families in acute need.
Since the beginning of the military invasion, the organization has intensified its activities in the volunteer direction, providing humanitarian aid, evacuation, and resettlement of children and families.
Youth Movement “Be Free” Projects
The organization is partnering with public, private, non-profit and local faith-based organizations across Ukraine to scale its model for community centers (like the one in Zhytomyr Region, Ukraine — see enclosed packet ) across Ukraine.
In preparation for the winter season, they are looking to supply these centers with generators that would allow them to serve as a safe space where families can warm up, recharge their phones, get a hot meal, do their laundry, and receive childcare support. All in all, YMBF is looking for a 100+ generators (size/power specifications available on request) to fill the immediate needs.
